Here’s your weekly update on gaming news. With no news from PAX because it was PAX South and nobody announced anything there...
January 25 - Capcom Announced details on the story mode for Street Fighter V. Basically there will be two types of story mode; Character Stories, which will ship with the game on February 16, and the Cinematic Story Expansion which will be released in June. The Character Stories mode consists of interstitial anime style vignettes which will fill in background information about the game’s characters. The Cinematic Expansion will be a made up of fully rendered and voiced cutscenes which will tell the tale of the actual events of the story of Street Fighter V.
January 25 - In response to several recent leaks, Activision announced a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game. The new game is being developed by PlatinumGames studio, developers of such games as Metal Gear Rising: Revengence and the Bayonetta franchise, and will feature an art style inspired by the IDW comic book version of the Turtles. January 27 - EA announces departure from E3 and new June “fan event”. While the game publishing powerhouse will not have official booth space at gaming’s biggest trade show they will host press privately for game demos and hold a press confrence before the show opens on Sunday, June 12, as reported by GameSpot. The new fan event named “EA Play” will take place concurrently with E3 in both LA and London and consist of game demos, live events and competitions.
January 28 - Insomniac Games announces new game Song of the Deep. The new game is set in an underwater environment, hence the title, and is said to be in the Metroid-Vania style. The game will also be the publishing debut for video game retailer GameStop.
