12/11/2016 - News This Way Comes...
Welcome to your weekly rundown of the week’s gaming news.
December 6 - Activision announced a new method of donating to their Call of Duty Endowment, a charity supporting job training and placement for veterans. Players of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare can now purchase the Call of Duty Endowment Courage Pack of in game items to assist the endowment.
December 8 - EA announced Sea of Solitude as the second addition to their EA Originals program. For those unfamiliar with EA Originals it is the game publishing giant’s indie initiative meant to support and encourage small team game studios. The program was announced earlier this year at the EA Play event with 3D platformer Fe as the first game. Sea of Solitude appears to be a boat based exploration game.
December 10 - Professional DOTA 2 team OG has won the Boston Major tournament. OG defeated several long standing teams, like former The International winners Evil Geniuses (EG), in their run up to the Grand Finals where they defeated pro DOTA newcomers Ad Finem. As Tournament winners OG will take home $1million of the tournament’s $3million prize pool.
December 11 - On the heels of the Boston Major Championship and more than ten years after the release 6.0 version of DOTA 2 Valve has announced the details for the 7.0 update of the popular MOBA. The update goes live tomorrow December 12.
The update includes:
A new hero, Monkey King, bringing the hero count to 112.

Cosmetic reworks to three existing heroes.
Support for community created bots.
Changes to the game map.
Changes to the hero leveling mechanic.
The addition of backpack storage to all heroes.
And many, many other changes.
That about does it for this week’s news.
Great now I have to relearn everything about DotA so I can still suck at it…
