Brace yourselves, this week was kind of a bummer lots of stuff got closed or cancelled.
March 7 - Microsoft moved to close two game development studios. Denmark based Press Play has been closed and London based Lionhead has entered an arbitration period Required by UK law before the company can be closed. Of the studios closing, Lionhead is most well known for making the Fable series of games as well as for its famous founder Peter Molyneux, who left the company in 2012. All projects under development by these studios have been cancelled including Fable: Ledgends.
March 7 - Blizzard announced the official release date and open Beta for Overwatch. The Overwatch open beta will run May 5-9 and class based competitive shooter will be available May 24, 2016 on PS4, XBOX One and PC.
March 8 - League of Legends developer Riot purchased Radiant Entertainment. As a consequence of the takeover Radiant Entertainment’s sole project, Rising Thunder, has been cancelled.
That’s about it for this week.
