7/10/2016 - News This Way Comes...

Welcome to your weekly rundown of the weeks gaming news.

July 6 - Pokemon Go was unleashed upon the mobile devices of the world. The new Pokemon title uses GPS and the phone’s camera to create an augmented reality game where players catch the titular beasties in their immediate surroundings.

July 7 - Third person competitive shooter Evolve went free-to-play on PC. The 4 vs 1 monster hunting game was originally released last year and was dogged by criticism focused on DLC practices that many found anti-consumer.

July 7 - Heavily anticipated  No Man’s Sky reached a major development milestone. Developer Hello Games announced via Twitter that the game has “gone gold” referring to the completion of initial development. No Man’s Sky was initially scheduled for a June release but was delayed until August.

July 8 - Microsoft released Red Dead Redemption on the XBOX One. The game is widely considered to be one of the best games of the XBOX 360 generation and was the most requested game for the XBOX One’s backwards compatibility program.

July 9 - Speedrunning charity event Summer Games Done Quick wrapped up after raising over $1 million for Doctors Without Borders. If you missed the livestreams archives can be found on YouTube.

That about does it for this week's news. You Pokemon trainers stay safe out there. Don't go chasin' Charmanders out in the street.
