5/28/2017 - News This Way Comes...
A pretty slow news week as the maelstrom of E3 approaches on the horizon.
May 24 - Rockstar Games announced that Red Dead: Redemption 2 will be delayed until ‘Spring 2018’. The news was followed by clarification from the game’s publisher, Take-Two, that April will be the earliest the new Red Dead will be available. The wild west epic was originally set to be Rockstar’s first game designed for the XBOX One and PS4 generation of consoles and was planned for a fall 2017 release. Rockstar had the following to say about the delay on their website:
We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer.
A Rockstar game delayed: In other news a water, still wet.
May 26 - Ubisoft officially announced Farcry 5 along with the new game’s setting, and release date of February 28, 2018. A common element of the Farcry games is their remote, dangerous setting and for the fifth installment Ubisoft chose a rural Montana county controlled by a violent religious cult.
In an interview on the Playstation Blog Executive Producer and Creative Director Dan Hay had this to say about the new game’s setting:
You go out into the world and you meet people for the first time, you don’t know them, maybe they don’t trust you, but if you can strike a deal with them, if you can have a conversation with them and make them part of what it is you’re building, they can join your resistance.
It’s definitely about chaos, and there’s a lot of that in this. But it’s also about building a beautiful world, and that’s a thing we want to introduce you to. We went to Montana, and we fell in love with it. It’s stunning.
