June 22 - Just in case you all missed the email about your entire wishlist going on sale, the annual Steam Summer Sale is arrived! The Summer Sale will run through July 5, don’t miss out.
June 21 - Augmented Reality (AR) hit the first milestone for any technology related to gaming: Someone made a version of Super Mario Bros. level 1-1 for it. Abhishek Singh posted a video on YouTube of himself playing an AR version of the most iconic first level in games using the Microsoft Hololens headset. Since an appearance at the Microsoft E3 Press briefing in 2015 showcasing Minecraft the headset has been marketed as a design tool more than a gaming device.
June 20 - Square-Enix revealed that the Final Fantasy XIV servers were the target of a DDoS attack starting on June 16. The hack could not have come at a worse time for the Final Fantasy MMORPG as the game was set to launch its new Stormblood expansion. The DDoS attack caused widespread connection and login problems for players between June 16 through the 21st.
